Ожидается, что президент США Барак Обама подпишет закон о продлении работы Экспортно-импортного банка, несмотря на возражения консерваторов.
Законопроект был принят Сенатом во вторник 15 мая – через неделю после его одобрения Палатой представителей.
Пресс-секретарь Белого дома Джей Карни заявил, что закон абсолютно необходим для поддержки роста американского экспорта.
Банк предоставляет займы и кредиты американским экспортерам, помогая им продвигать и продавать свои товары за рубежом.
Сторонники банка говорят, что он помогает США конкурировать с другими основными мировыми экспортерами, которые также получают правительственную поддержку.
Некоторые консерваторы в Конгрессе требуют закрытия банка, считая, что он поддерживает несправедливую торговлю.
